Senior Vice President, Tax

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

We have been retained by a NYSE-listed, complex, $10 billion market cap business services REIT with significant global international operations to perform a confidential search for a high potential financial professional to lead/manage the tax function.  The company is an acquisition-oriented, multi-business line, $4 billion revenue industry leader and expects future expansion through organic growth and transactional activity.  The senior management team is high-quality, experienced, innovative, and hands-on and is committed to achieving profitability benchmarks over the next five years.  The company operates in 47 countries with over 24,000 employees, and has 1,400+ facilities worldwide.  Its disciplined M&A strategy has driven shareholder value and expanded business offerings – within the last three years the company successfully integrated a transformative acquisition that increased its access to high-growth emerging markets while creating greater economies of scale.  The company is headquartered in a desirable, prominent city in the New England area.  

POSITION INFORMATION:

Reporting to the CFO, the SVP of Tax will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, management and mentorship to the tax team along with being a strong business partner to the CFO, the executive management team and the Board.  This person will have responsibility over compliance, domestic and international research and planning, acquisition / transaction structuring/analysis, REIT compliance and planning/structuring, manage the effective tax rate/tax provision process, manage outside vendor / partnering relationships, special projects and provide overall business leadership to the company and senior management team.  

This is a highly visible, interesting, complex position for a high potential, business-oriented tax professional.

Excellent compensation program that includes salary, annual performance bonus and annual equity grant. 

If needed, full relocation will be provided along with recognition / compensation for any unvested equity and earned, unpaid bonuses. 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Accounting or related area. Masters and / or JD or MBA preferred. Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience. 
  • Prior / Current BIG 4 tax experience, with a concentration in real estate (REIT's), international tax or both. 
  • Prior / Current management/leadership experience with a complex multinational corporation strongly preferred along with tax exposure to numerous countries desired. 
  • Strong technical skills along with the ability to communicate complex technical matters in a practical, business approach to senior management. 
  • Interest in and experience being a strong business partner to the CFO, the rest of the senior management team and the Board. 
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to manage / prioritize multiple priorities. 
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills. Interest in being a proactive change agent. 
  • Highest level of integrity, ethics and commitment level.

TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION: Contingent Upon Experience.
