Vice President Accounting / Finance Business Partner


We’ve recently been retained by our client, a rapidly growing, innovative, international, acquisitions-oriented life sciences/services company on a search for a Vice President of Accounting.  This company has grown substantially through both organic growth as well as acquisitions and is backed by leading private equity groups. Since its founding, the company has been an instrumental part in shaping the future of the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry and serves Blue Chip companies in the space.  The company is at a pivotal point and is well positioned for future growth. The leadership consists of high-quality, experienced, innovative individuals who are dedicated to the company’s success.  This position will be located in Bethesda, MD


This is a newly created role and will be the right-hand to the Chief Financial Officer.  This person should be a well-rounded accounting leader with the ability to be hands-on, drive change, and suggest/execute on process improvement.  The VP Accounting will be responsible for all technical accounting and compliance with US GAAP standards, especially revenue recognition, purchase/combination accounting, share-based incentive comp, etc.  This person will also be vital to improving processes and financial/ERP systems, supporting the effort to build a global operational finance team, overseeing general ledger accounting and the close process, as well as various ad-hoc / analytical requests as necessary.  This person will be able to take on additional responsibilities with time, and will have exposure to treasury, tax, etc.


Compensation: A competitive package with annual compensation consistent with experience level. 



  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant accounting experience in a small – mid-sized, growing company.
  • BS in Accounting and CPA required.
  • Prior Big 4 audit experience is required, with a preference to Manager-level or higher.
  • A hands-on, take-charge financial professional with strong financial and analytical skills. 
  • Work in a cohesive corporate headquarters environment with a take-charge senior management team that is interested in growth and driving change.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills along with the ability/enjoyment to manage multiple priorities.  Solid team orientation and work ethic.

  • Highest level of ethics, integrity, and common sense.
