Head of Real Estate Acquisitions and Capital Markets

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

We have been retained by a successful, acquisition-oriented, well-capitalized, entrepreneurial real estate investment and development company headquartered in the Washington, DC metro area.  In addition to an established mixed-use portfolio of quality assets, the company also has significant, transit-oriented mixed-use projects under development in Northern Virginia, totaling over 6 million square feet.  They are currently seeking a strategic, driven, and high-potential real estate professional to join their team as the Head of Acquisitions/Capital Markets. The company is looking for a strategic, forward-thinking real estate business partner who can successfully lead an opportunistic investment strategy and increase assets under management while determining the optimal capital structure to acquire, develop and own these commercial assets. The company expects meaningful growth over the next 3-5 years. This person will be instrumental in creating a real estate acquisition/development strategy and building a team to support the real estate acquisition/capital markets strategy.  This is a unique, special opportunity to join a well-capitalized company as they go through an exciting period of growth, expansion, and development. 

 

POSITION INFORMATION:

The Head of Acquisitions/Capital Markets will be part of the senior leadership team as well as have interaction/exposure to the Board, investors as well as real estate leaders in the marketplace. This person will identify attractive real estate development and acquisition opportunities for the Company and determine the appropriate capital structure to acquire and finance these assets. This would include sourcing, analyzing and closing real estate along with determining/obtaining the debt, equity to close the transactions. The position will also have interface with existing investors and generate new sources of debt/capital with additional private and institutional investors that have shared goals, objectives and interest in investing in high-quality, transit-oriented, mixed-use development in the Metro Washington, DC marketplace.   

 

This is a highly-visible, critical role for the organization and an opportunity to make a significant impact.

 

Compensation:

Excellent compensation package including competitive base salary, bonus, and equity.

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate or another related field; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in real estate acquisition, finance, investment banking and/or private equity
  • Must have track record of real estate acquisitions / investment success along with capital markets experience
  • Hands-on leader who can also manage and develop high performing acquisitions/capital markets teams. Results oriented. Enjoy working in an entrepreneurial, performance based real estate business.  
  • Proven ability to establish, articulate and promote a real estate strategic vision, strategic plans, initiatives and goals across project teams and key stakeholders along with executing on the plan. The successful candidate will be recognized for their energy, leadership, entrepreneurial skills and ability to coach / motivate team members
  • Proven track record of success in both local DC real estate acquisitions market and capital market transactions with established debt/equity relationships.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven track record of success
  • Ability to build relationships: must be able to establish and manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels

TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION: Contingent Upon Experience.
