Head of Capital Markets, Real Estate



Our client is a successful, acquisition-oriented, entrepreneurial real estate investment and development company headquartered in the Washington, DC metro area.  In addition to an established mixed-use portfolio of quality assets in the DC metro area, the company has significant, iconic, transit-oriented mixed-use projects under development in Northern Virginia, totaling over 6 million square feet.  They are currently seeking a strategic, driven, and high-potential individual to join their team as the Head of Capital Markets. The company is looking for a forward-thinking business partner for this position who can successfully develop and lead the capital markets function. The company is expecting rapid growth over the next 3-5 years, both organically and through acquisitions.  This person will be instrumental in creating and executing best-in-class practices and further building a team of the highest caliber.  This is a special opportunity to join a highly reputable company as they go through an exciting time period of growth, expansion, and development. 




The Head of Capital Markets will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, while working closely with the CFO, General Counsel, and executive management team.  This person will identify attractive opportunities for the Company in order to raise additional capital in public or private market transactions in support of the Company’s real estate development activities and expansion objectives. The position will manage existing investor relationships, while also generating new connections with additional private and institutional investors that have shared goals, objectives and interest in high-quality, transit-oriented, and mixed-use development in the Washington, DC marketplace.   

Additionally, the position will build and manage the third-party, fee-based Capital Markets function for a wholly owned subsidiary of the organization.  This person will utilize contacts and relationships of the company, and his/her own connections to expand the investor/lender base to support existing and planned operations.  This position will be responsible for origination/analysis of equity and debt capital for company acquisitions, and in connection with the acquisition and/or development of portions of the Company’s existing portfolio. In this capacity, the candidate will foster and manage financial partner relationships and will work with an extensive list of capital sources including banks, finance companies, equity/debt funds, and high net worth family offices.

Compensation:Excellent compensation package including competitive base, bonus, and equity.




  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate or another related field; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in real estate finance, investment banking, or private equity
  • Must have experience raising capital and building an extensive network
  • 5+ years effectively managing and developing high performing finance or business teams in support of capital markets activities within a performance-oriented organization
  • Proven ability to establish, articulate and promote a vision, strategic plans, initiatives and goals across the project teams and key stakeholders. Recognized for their energy, leadership, entrepreneurial skills, ability to coach and motivate team members
  • Proven track record of successful capital market transactions and relationships in the equity/debt markets.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven track record of success
  • Ability to build relationships: must be able to establish and manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
