Director of Purchasing - Award Winning Homebuild/Developer



Our client is one of the most prominent and successful developers/builders of high-end residential projects in the DC metro area.  They are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on, polished professional to join their team as the Director of Purchasing.  The company has a strong history and track record of developing/building well designed, complex, award winning, quality projects, typically in urban metropolitan sites.  The company has won more awards than any other builder in the DC area, including National awards for “America’s Best Builder” and “Best Places to Work”.  With a top caliber management team, the company has assembled an excellent pipeline of current and future projects and is well positioned for continued growth.  The company culture and environment is very positive and is committed to excellence, integrity, quality and providing people with a challenging and rewarding career experience.


Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Construction Operations, this person will have valuable exposure to the top-notch executive team, who are highly-regarded and excellent mentors in the industry.  This person will lead and support the purchasing function for homebuilding projects in the areas of budgeting, bidding, and contract negotiation.  This position will also be responsible for facilitating positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and others relating to the building process.  Additionally, this person will assure projects are appropriately following compliance guidelines.  This is a great company with strong career opportunities beyond this role.  Montgomery County MD, metro accessible location.  


Excellent compensation package including base salary, annual bonus, and car allowance.


  • Minimum 5-8 years of progressive procurement/purchasing experience in vertical construction of single family or townhomes in the local DC metro area market.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to be hands-on, self-motivated, while communicating effectively with executive management, project managers, and external subcontractors/vendors.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, innovative mentality and receptive to change.
  • Highest level of ethics and integrity.
  • Positive attitude with effective networking abilities.
