Vice President, Operational Accounting


We have been retained by a $1.5B+ revenue, $15+ bil market cap publicly-traded, rapidly-growing, dynamic, tech-enabled consumer product/services company that is revolutionizing / changing its industry to search for a high potential, financial professional to join its growing financial leadership team. The business model has shifted the way consumers view the industry, and the company’s current revenue represents nearly 90% year over year growth. Since its IPO last September, the company has experienced amazing growth and is well-positioned for continued significant growth both through US and international growth as well as through strategic acquisitions. Its market is massive and growing and is poised for disruption and additional positive change.   The company continues to build an experienced, hands-on, and committed leadership team to lead this fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and progressive organization. The culture is fast-paced, diverse, hands-on positive and continues to evolve/change as the company grows. This is a highly visible, impactful financial leadership role. This Vice President will add value to the global operations by taking financial ownership over the company’s business segments, accounting, and leading a substantial team. This position will be located at the company headquarters in New York City (Manhattan).


In this newly created, high visibility position, this hands-on, high-potential professional will report to the Senior Vice President / Chief Accounting Officer and will lead, manage, and develop the accounting group. The successful candidate will add value to global operations by taking financial ownership over the company’s accounting for the $1.5+ bil revenue business segments plus leading/managing a current team of 20+ financial professionals. This person will be a mentor-leader and business partner and will manage the design and execution of scalable and dynamic accounting policies, processes, and systems, especially pertaining to the business segments.  This person will be the key accounting/business partner for the rapidly growing segments/business operations and other related functional area leadership.  Primary responsibilities include overseeing, managing, and leading the team, contributing consistent, valuable thought leadership regarding segment/business unit revenue / gross margin reporting, cost of goods sold, inventory valuation and controls and special projects. In addition, the Vice President will manage all aspects of the month-end close process as it pertains to segment reporting, revenue recognition, and gross margin and will work closely with the FP&A team and other groups in providing key information and metrics. Since the organization is experiencing rapid growth and expansion, they are planning an SAP ERP implementation over the next year, which this person will have a major impact on. They will participate in and lead various ad-hoc projects and work closely with the CAO and other leaders in the company to help build/develop a “best-in-class” group. This person will be a key leader across the organization and will be expected to guide the team effectively through change and global growth.

If needed, meaningful relocation will be provided. Given the current environment, if desired, flexibility can be provided regarding the timing of relocation as well as this person will be able to work from home/remotely consistent with other key professionals in the company.


  • Minimum 12+ years of related accounting/financial experience, preferably in a manufacturing, retail, consumer products, or distribution industry setting. Prior experience with gross margin management and inventory valuation and controls strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related quantitative field required. 
  • Active CPA license required.  Previous Big 4/National Public Accounting experience strongly preferred with public company client exposure.
  • Experience with working with fast growth, rapidly changing, fast-paced companies with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and lead a team.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX controls, and current revenue recognition & financial reporting trends.
  • A detail-oriented professional with a high level of integrity and dependability along with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Must possess strong business acumen and common sense. Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions quickly.  Self-starter. 
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency required; familiarity and comfort with financial systems. Prior ERP implementation experience highly preferred, exposure to SAP helpful.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and ability/willingness to interact with executives and other business leaders.
