Senior Vice President/Vice President - Accounting Corporate/Fund Controller


Our client is a prominent, award-winning, nationally recognized real estate owner, developer and operator of Class A multifamily and mixed-use properties in strategic high-growth, urban markets across the United States.  This well-capitalized, institutionally, fund-owned, vertically-integrated industry leader specializes in the development, construction, ownership, acquisition, financing and management of over 30,000 multi-family units, primarily in desirable, growing urban markets. The company, which was started in the 1980’s, has an experienced, seasoned management team which has positioned the company for future expansion through both development and acquisition initiatives. Additionally, the company provides third-party property management services to owners nationwide. The company has received numerous award and national recognition for excellence in development, management, sales, marketing, training, benefits and corporate accommodations.  They are looking for a high potential, experienced, hands-on financial professional with prior management leadership experience, as well as fund accounting knowledge, to join the organization in a highly visible, diverse, important financial leadership position.  This dynamic, well-managed, employee-oriented company with over 1,000 employees has a positive culture and has been recognized as an industry leader.  This position is headquartered in a desirable urban suburb in Metro Atlanta.



This highly visible, diverse role reports to the EVP-Chief Financial Officer and is a critical leadership position for the organization.  This person will lead, manage and oversee the financial, accounting and tax functions for the company, which includes both corporate and fund accounting/reporting functions.  As the right-hand accounting partner to the CFO, this person will lead and mentor an experienced team of talented financial professionals. This person will be a technical expert in financial/management reporting (overseeing corporate, property, development, and construction accounting), as well as a point person for fund, investor, and lender reporting.  This is a broad/diverse position that will also have oversight over tax compliance/planning, REIT compliance, treasury operations/cash management and ad hoc/special projects.  This person will also be a business partner to the CFO and the rest of the senior management team on financial/accounting matters. Compensation: Excellent compensation package includes competitive base salary, a performance-based annual bonus, participation in an equity-equivalent long-term incentive program and outstanding benefits. If needed, relocation will be provided


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field.  Prior Big 4 or Regional Accounting Firm experience highly preferred.  CPA preferred.  
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant progressive real estate or fund management financial leadership experience.  Meaningful managerial/supervisory experience required.   
  • Real estate fund investment experience strongly preferred, preferably with fund investor reporting experience, either with open or closed funds. Exposure to fair value accounting.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.  When needed, be strategic but also detailed.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a best-in-class accounting team successfully.
  • Strong communication skills with professional presence.  Ability to present effectively to executive management and investors.  Diplomatically assertive.
  • Excellent business sense and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.  Strong problem solving and mentoring skills necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities, while being able to effectively delegate and also be hands-on when necessary.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Self-starter. Ability to work with limited direction.
