Chief Accounting Officer


We have been retained by a prominent, international, private equity-backed technology, electronic documentation, and professional services company to search for a talented professional to lead and oversee their substantial accounting team.  Headquartered in Washington, DC, the company has experienced continued growth and success due to excellent leadership and strategic, meaningful acquisitions.  Approximately $1B in revenue, this is a meaningful organization with a forward-thinking, innovative, positive culture.  The executive management team is talented, quality-oriented, and passionate about what they do.  They are leaders in the marketplace, and this person will have excellent exposure and collaboration with the management team.  The company recognizes and rewards dedicated, hardworking professionals and this is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a highly successful, growing organization.  This is truly a unique opportunity that offers excellent career positioning for a future Chief Financial Officer position.    


This person will be reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, who has an impressive background and excellent reputation.  They are looking for an intelligent leader who can oversee, mentor and further develop a best-in-class accounting department, comprised of approximately 20 employees.  This person will be a communicative, forward-thinking leader who can handle complex issues and drive meaningful change.  Additionally, this person will be an important facilitator of the company’s positive culture to the accounting team.  This person will gain exceptional experience with the upcoming major acquisition and integration work and will cross collaborate with various departments of the organization.  They are looking for a forward-thinking individual who can make a significant, positive impact to the company.  This person will set the standards of excellence and make significant improvements to processes, efficiencies, technology, and talent management. 

Compensation: Excellent compensation package includes competitive base salary, annual bonus, equity, and strong benefits package.  If needed, relocation can be provided.   


  • Minimum 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years of meaningful management/leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferable in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or related field.  CPA required. 
  • Big 4 or Regional Public Accounting Firm experience, combined with corporate experience. 
  • Minimum 4-5 years in a Controller and/or Chief Accounting Officer position.
  • Previous experience with private-equity backed company and/or experience with multiple acquisitions/integrations experience highly desired.
  • Nimble mindset with ability to work successfully in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
  • This person must be a sharp, forward-thinking problem solver with high standards of excellence.
  • A demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and requiring cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to drive and influence change in a respectful manner with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in talent development (hiring, training, and mentoring). 
  • Ability to gain the trust and confidence of others quickly, and lead by example.
