Senior Director/Director, Brand Interior Design

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

We have been retained by one of the most prestigious and prominent owners and developers of trophy-class commercial real estate in the Mid-Atlantic regarding a search for a Senior Director/Director of Brand Interior Design. The company has an iconic portfolio of mixed-use and office assets, along with substantial, impressive projects currently under development and a strong pipeline throughout the region.  The portfolio is also expanding into additional top caliber, emerging markets throughout the country.  They are currently seeking a high-potential, innovative, forward-thinking professional to integrate luxury hospitality design and experience into commercial office and mixed-use space. The executive management team has an outstanding reputation, a history and track record of success, and they have positioned the company for continued growth and expansion through substantial transactional activity.  The company has an innovative, progressive management team, combined with the foundation for significant growth and change in the short to medium term.  The national headquarters is located in a desirable area of Washington, DC.  This is a unique, special opportunity to join a well-capitalized, established company as they go through an exciting period of growth and development.        

POSITION INFORMATION:

This newly created position will be reporting directly to the SVP, Head of Brand & Hospitality, who has an exceptional reputation in the marketplace and is an excellent mentor.  Additionally, this person will have valuable exposure and interaction with the key leaders of the organization, including the Chief Development Officer, SVP of Portfolio Management, President, and CEO. The executive team has strategized a truly innovative concept of bringing a luxury, highly amenitized hospitality experience to their commercial office/mixed-use portfolio to form an iconic brand.  This person will lead and execute the process of interior design for the company from inception through completion, and will be instrumental in collaboratively creating and implementing the company brand from a design perspective. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of implementing a ground-breaking, cutting-edge concept to one of the most successful commercial real estate companies in the DC metro area and Mid-Atlantic regions.  They are looking for a forward-thinking leader who can make a significant, positive impact to the company.

Compensation: Excellent compensation package includes competitive base salary, annual bonus, and strong benefits.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of progressive experience in interior design with a luxury brand, preferably in hospitality, multifamily real estate, or food & beverage.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Interior Design, Architecture, or related discipline.
  • Ability to develop and present design concepts, with a demonstrated understanding of space planning, in-depth knowledge of furniture systems and finishes, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to respectfully influence change with excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, thinks outside the box, and is able to be hands-on while understanding the high-level, strategic objectives.
  • Thoughtful professional who embraces a best-in-class hospitality mindset.  Ability to gain the trust and confidence of others quickly.
  • AutoCAD proficiency and NCIDQ accreditation required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.

TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION: Contingent Upon Experience.
