Senior Vice President - Acquisitions, Southeast Region

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

 

We have been retained by one of the most prominent, successful commercial real estate investment/development firms in the metro Washington D.C. area.  The company seeks a high potential, commercial real estate acquisition/transactions professional with a strong record of success and market knowledge for a newly created position to initially identify and source potential multi-family acquisitions in the Southeast. For the past 20+ years, the company has focused on DC Metro-area, value add / opportunistic investments across all asset classes, including office, multi-family, retail, hotel, and land held for development. They have acquired over 14 million square feet of commercial real estate and 800+ acres of land for development.

 

This real estate private equity firm has successfully raised multiple funds and has completed over $5 bil of transactions, achieving exceptional returns for investors.  The executive management team is highly reputable, entrepreneurial, collaborative and widely recognized for being strategic, innovative, and market leaders with a strong track record of investment success.  The company is well-positioned for continued success and expansion. They have an outstanding, progressive culture that is positive, collaborative, opportunistic and team-oriented.  They have designated the Southeast as a strategic growth market for future investment and development and identified the Carolinas as the home base for this experienced acquisition/transaction professional to grow the region.  This person can be based in either Charlotte or Raleigh, NC.

POSITION INFORMATION:

In this newly created role, reporting directly to the Executive Management Team, this experienced acquisitions professional will lead the execution and expansion of the Southeast region. This person will work closely with the DC-based senior leadership to determine the investment criteria and strategy to grow the region. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of success in sourcing/identifying potential acquisition in the region, with prior experience and knowledge of the multi-family market in the region. As the market grows, this person will hire and lead additional investment acquisition professionals to grow the region.  This person will work closely with the DC team transactions team who will assist to underwrite and structure potential development and existing repositioning / value-add asset investments. This person will create and present the investment memo/recommendation to the investment committee.

Given the Southeast region has been identified for significant growth/expansion, there will be significant capital allocated to grow/develop the region. Thus, this person will be expected to locate strategic, opportunistic investments timely and drive timely growth/results in the region. Given the entrepreneurial, progressive structure of the company, this is a meaningful and exciting opportunity for a results-driven, high potential, acquisitions professional with a strong record of success in the region. This person will build, grow and lead the region and with success, results and leadership, ultimately become an integral part of the senior management team of this well-regarded real estate private equity firm. 

Compensation: Excellent compensation package aligned with experience, including competitive base salary, incentive/results-oriented bonus program, and equity participation. If desired, ability to also participate in co-invest program.

If needed, relocation will be provided for candidates who have strong market knowledge of the target growth markets but currently reside out of the area.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area along with strong interest/knowledge of commercial real estate. MBA or post graduate degree preferred, not required.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant commercial real estate acquisition/sourcing experience in the Carolinas with exposure to multiple product types.  Current/prior acquisitions experience with multi-family assets required, either in a broker/advisory investments sales group or principal/owner.    Strong knowledge of and contacts in the Carolina commercial real estate markets. Well networked in the commercial real estate market, especially within multi-family market.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage multiple priorities.  Enjoy working in a fast-paced, informal, fluid environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and drive results while allocating time between multiple tasks, deadlines, and opportunities. Desire to build a successful region/business with autonomy, while having a successful company/experienced team to collaborate with.  
  • Ability to make well-reasoned, decisive investment recommendations to Senior Management and investors. Highest level of trust, integrity and loyalty.
  • Self-driven and results-oriented. Proactive but think like an investor/owner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION: Contingent Upon Experience.
