Corporate Controller

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Our client is a rapidly-growing, innovative, VC-backed, global manufacturing company looking for a high-potential Controller to join the leadership team.  The Controller is a visible role working with the functional and business leadership throughout the organization.  The company is mission-oriented, entrepreneurial, and disruptive in its space. The company has a high-quality, experienced, innovative management team, which has led the company through rapid growth.  The position will be based in the Cambridge area.

POSITION INFORMATION:

Reporting to the company’s CFO, the Controller will be responsible for leading and managing the organization’s financial control and accounting operations for the company.  This is a broad role that will oversee all aspects of reporting, analysis, accounting operations, and special projects for the global organization.   Responsibilities include leading the monthly close process and managing the consolidated financial statement process in accordance with GAAP, financial reporting, managing the annual external audit, AR/AP management, creating and improving reporting processes, cash management, payroll, tax management, revenue and inventory accounting, and some technical accounting research. In addition, this person will be involved other financial special projects and broader financial management. This Controller will also lead and mentor a small team.  The company’s culture is entrepreneurial and allows for high performers to take on additional responsibilities with time. This is a highly visible role for a nimble, hands-on financial professional.

Compensation: A competitive package including base, bonus, and equity.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Accounting or Finance; prior Big 4 / reputable public accounting strongly preferred.  CPA required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience. including exposure to high-growth/start-up environment.  Strong preference for manufacturing industry experience.
  • Leadership experience within a broad-based accounting team.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong process improvement experience. This person will need to evaluate existing processes and procedures and establish best practices.
  • Strong leadership, change management and communication skills.  This person will have frequent interaction with the executive team as well as functional leaders across the company.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.  Strong business and common sense. Career-motivated, dedicated, committed leader.

TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION: Contingent Upon Experience.
