Assistant Controller


Our client is a rapidly-growing, innovative, VC-backed, global manufacturing company looking for a high-potential Assistant Controller to join the leadership team.  The Assistant Controller is a visible role working with the functional and business leadership throughout the organization.  The company is mission-oriented, entrepreneurial, and disruptive in its space. The company has a high-quality, experienced, innovative management team, which has led the company through rapid growth.  The position will be based in the Cambridge area.


Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this Assistant Controller will be a key leader for the organization’s accounting and controls.  This is a broad role, and responsibilities will include managing the general ledger, AR/AP management, creating and improving reporting processes, fixed assets, cash management, payroll, tax management, some manufacturing operations related accounting, and some technical accounting. In addition, this person will be involved other financial special projects and broader financial management. This Assistant Controller will also oversee a small team.  The company’s culture is entrepreneurial and allows for high performers to take on additional responsibilities with time. This is a highly visible role for a nimble, hands-on financial professional who would like to have an impact on an organization.

Compensation: A competitive package including base, bonus, and equity.


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Accounting or Finance; prior Big 4 / reputable public accounting strongly preferred.  CPA required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience, including experience either within high-growth/start-up environment or sophisticated SEC registrant.  Some preference for manufacturing industry experience.
  • Leadership experience within an operational accounting team.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong process improvement experience. This person will need to evaluate existing processes and procedures and establish best practices.
  • Strong leadership, change management and communication skills.  This person will have frequent interaction with the executive team as well as functional leaders across the company.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.  Strong business and common sense. Career-motivated, dedicated, committed leader.
