Private Equity Chief Financial Officer


Our client is an entrepreneurial, energy-focused private equity firm headquartered in the DC area.  The company's proven strategy has a broad focus across several target energy markets.  The leadership has extensive expertise in the power industry, and its principals have worked at leading energy companies and top-tier financial institutions. The company is well positioned to continue its rapid growth through acquisition and optimization while remaining a stalwart competitor in the space.  The culture of the group is hands-on, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and cordial and offers growth and development opportunities to high performers. The company is looking for a CFO to join its financial leadership team as the organization continues to grow in its Metro-accessible, state-of-the-art, corporate headquarters in the DC area.


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will be a key member of the portfolio’s senior management team and will oversee all finance activities for its operating companies including accounting, cash and treasury management, forecasting, valuation, budgeting, internal controls, financial systems, audit, reporting, compliance, and tax. This CFO will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with external groups including lenders/banks, fund administrators, external auditors, and others.  This CFO will mentor and manage a sizable team and will also often interface with the private equity principals and investors. This hands-on CFO will also play a vital role in identifying long-term value creation opportunities and driving profitable changes in the business.


  • B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related degree.  MBA required.  CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of relevant financial experience including leadership / CFO experience within a high-growth or other private equity/VC-backed environment.
  • Energy industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and organization skills. Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Able to focus on high-level strategy while also scaling down into operational details.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing, cohesive teams.
  • Highest level of trust, integrity, and commitment.
