Director of Tax

COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Our client is a rapidly growing, highly profitable, international professional services company with a market capitalization in excess of $3 billion. They are one of Business Week's Hot Growth Companies and Fortune’s 100 fastest growing companies. Additionally, Washingtonian has featured them consistently in the magazine’s Great Place to Work in DC edition. The company has had an impressive financial track record with annual revenue and profit growth in excess of 30% per year over the last five years.  The stock price has increased over 300% since the company went public over 6 years ago.

POSITION INFORMATION:

The company is seeking a top-notch executive to lead the tax function with responsibility for managing all aspects of tax accounting, including the income tax provision for U.S. and foreign entities, effective tax rate, and strategic planning and structuring.  Will also coordinate and manage vendors for outsourced compliance and monitor proposed and enacted changes in tax law. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Perform FAS 109 and FIN 48 calculations, including financial statement disclosures, and coordinate audit with independent accountants.
  • Facilitate strategic and operational tax planning of effective tax rate and cash payments, as well as structuring of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Manage foreign tax exposure and coordinate transfer pricing activities.
  • Prepare deferred tax account analysis, schedule M adjustments, and tax balance sheet.
  • Maintenance of tax policies, procedures, and controls, including Sarbanes Oxley documentation.
  • Oversee compliance with other taxes such as property, sales and use, franchise, and business licenses, etc.
  • Research and respond to federal, state, local, and foreign tax notices.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or related business field, MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of tax experience with primary focus around FAS 109 and FIN 48
  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic vision and analytical skills
  • Superior professionalism, discretion and judgment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate with senior leadership effectively

TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL CASH COMPENSATION: Up to $200,000.00
